typography in motion

We were tasked to animate about the unique experience in GDC as students. Kinetic typography is a graphic design technique that animates text, creating a visual representation of a concept idea. This project showcased personal experiences at Greenside Design Center through playful, fluid, and crystalline animations, showcasing the structure's strength and fading away as the user explores the space.

Our concept:

We have developed a concept that illustrates the emotional journey of beginners to the design field using cues from Crystalline, Fluid, and Playful. The idea investigates the development of creativity, acceptance of decision-making, and incorporating design into day-to-day activities. The animations emphasize the creative flexibility. It describes how those who are new to the design business feel about the course, how completing it alters their creative thinking, and how they adjust to it and make it a second nature.
By challenging conventional wisdom and encouraging innovation, Greenside Design Center turns students into designers by showcasing design as a dynamic force that alters perceptions of the world and daily life.

G- Crystalline innovation:

The letter "G" in our animation, inspired by the concept's link to the states of matter, particularly Crystalline, undergoes a transformative journey as it scales up or approaches. Symbolizing the solid-state post-matriculation, the post-matriculations the critical and structured mindset. This animation encapsulates Greenside Design Center's role in deconstructing the crystalline state, revealing particles as the G draws near and guiding students to unlock their creative potential. The particles signify the breakdown of conventional thinking, fostering a dynamic, creative mindset. Overall, it highlights how Greenside Design Center shapes individuals into designers by encouraging a fluid, imaginative, and playful approach to design.
D- Creative Crescendo:

The inspiration behind the letter “D” in our animation stems from a combination of personal passions—my love for running and Tishan’s love for music. The scene unfolds with the initially lifeless “D” walking, devoid of energy. However, as it transforms into a musical note, the animation takes on a vibrant energy, with the “D” starting to jump. This concept is a fusion of our individual interests, the prompt for “D” is “playful,” and our interpretation of playfulness is a manifestation of creativity. Although we adhere to the concept of states of matter, this time, we forego the use of gas particles. Instead, we incorporate wind, opposing the motion, to convey a sense of speed and dynamism, enriching the animation with a playful and creative spirit.
C- Emerge:

The inspiration for the letter "C" in our animation is rooted in the concept's connection to states of matter, specifically Crystalline. As the animation progresses, particles gracefully encircle the "C," symbolizing the transformative journey at Greenside Design Center. The subsequent squash and reduction in size represent the deconstruction of conventional thinking, making way for growth and adaptability instilled by Greenside's transformative education. In the rebound phase, the "C" undergoes a dynamic metamorphosis, scaling up, transforming into 3D, and adopting a new font. This sequence illustrates Greenside's force in molding students into greater designers, encapsulating growth and adaptability, fostering a revitalized perspective and a versatile skill set.
